Garlic Chives, also known as Chinese Chives, are a delightful and easy-to-grow herb that flourish in USDA zones 3-9. These perennial herbs are not only cherished for their delicate, white star-shaped flowers and graceful, flat green leaves but also for their subtle garlic flavor, which adds a unique twist to dishes compared to traditional chives. Reaching about 12-15 inches tall, Garlic Chives are excellent for culinary use, as a garnish, in herb gardens, or as attractive borders that also provide edible value.
What makes Garlic Chives unique?
Garlic Chives stand out from their more common chive cousins with their garlic-infused flavor and attractive late-summer blooms that are highly attractive to pollinators, making them a dual-purpose plant for both kitchen use and ecological support in the garden.
Listing is for one (1) set of Garlic Chives grown from a 1 gallon, sold bare-root and ready for planting, so you can soon enjoy their fresh flavor and lovely blooms in your very own herb garden or edible landscape.
Planting Instructions:
Choose a location in full sun or partial shade with well-draining, fertile soil. Dig a small hole, spread the roots of the Garlic Chives gently, and place them in the hole at the same depth they were growing. Cover with soil and water thoroughly to establish. Garlic Chives are drought-tolerant once established but perform best when kept consistently moist, especially during the growing season.
Please note: We hold a nursery license and are able to ship live, bare-root plants to all states except CA and OR
